Description
HV Whole House Fans Informational Sheet
The HV3400 Whole House Fan easily mounts in the attic on 16 or 24 inches on center joists and is operated by a Remote Control included with your purchase. This 3400 CFM* fan quickly circulates air and cools your home whenever the outdoor air is cooler than the indoor air. The HV3400 Whole House Fan operates at two speeds to exhaust hot air, indoor air pollutants, allergens, moisture, and odors out through attic vents or gables while pulling cool, fresh air into the home through the open windows. The air exchange naturally cools your home and can improve indoor air quality.
Like all Tamarack HV Series Whole House Fans, the HV3400 Whole House Fan features a unique self-sealing door design. The unit includes R-50 insulated doors that open automatically when the fan is operating and seal shut automatically when the fan is off. The insulated door design prevents cool air from escaping your living area to the attic. The insulated doors also prevent heat loss through the attic during the cooler months.
Installing an HV3400 Whole House Fan reduces energy consumption and saves money. Tamarack’s Whole House Fans use 10% of the energy of a central air conditioning system thus cooling your home while reducing your energy bill.
As a result of the high quality of this product and ease of installation, the Tamarack HV fans have been featured twice on the popular home improvement show “Ask This Old House”. A clip of the episode can be viewed here.

I replaced an old 30″ whole house fan with only aluminum gravity dampers to seal it from the attic, The hallway was cold in the winter and you could feel the heat radiating from louvers in the summer. Attic temps range from -5′, winter, to 135’F in the summer.
The new fan has been in for a month now, works perfectly, low speed is quiet, dampers open and close and seal very well, no more cold drafts in the Hallway. The remote control that is included with the Whole House Fan purchase is a nice feature.

We put an Hv3400 in the attic 4 years ago to cool down the second floor in the Canadian summer.
open the back french doors and light it up on high and cool the entire house down 10 degrees at night in 30 minutes
the attic gets chilled as a bonus and the air is changed out in the entire house to fresh oxygen 8 months out of the year.
u gotta luv this monster air mover

I’m super impressed with the quality, CFM, and lack of noise this fan creates.

The Day the Whole House Ventilator Arrived, I was able to test operate the unit in couple hours after unboxing. Very impressive simple assemble and test, placed unit on 45 degree off set on an opened packaging box. Thought I’d tell you about that because it might have been a check to do before installing it in an Attic Space. Simple way to gain confidence and move forward with install.
Install took two days to complete I needed to build a box to raise the unit to allow for large foot print of base. Everything followed per instructions and U-Tube Video’s. The RAPs installed easily and work wonderfully, Only wish I bought one 10 yrs ago.

I removed the old whole house fan (comfort cooler by Traingle Engineering Co model cc-30) because it was not insulated in the summer or winter. You could feel the heat coming from the attic in the summer and the cold air coming through in the winter. I bought this model for the insulation and sealing capabilities and I really do like the insulating and sealing qualities. It was also a pretty easy installation.

I didn’t imagine I’d be the first to refer to this unit as the green monstah. What an upgrade!
